Carlyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Thomasville, GA, providing therapy for adults and adolescents ages 15 and older. She specializes in trauma therapy and anxiety treatment, helping clients navigate the effects of difficult experiences, persistent worry, overwhelm, and major life transitions. She especially enjoys working with young adults and mothers of young children who are facing challenges of a new season of life. Carlyn offers in-person counseling in Thomasville and surrounding South Georgia, as well as virtual counseling throughout Georgia.

 

A Thomasville native, Carlyn returned home after spending much of her early adulthood in Atlanta. She earned her master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and has more than 15 years of experience providing individual counseling.

 

In her work with trauma, Carlyn utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach that helps clients process distressing experiences and reduce their emotional impact. Her approach to anxiety is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients identify what matters most to them and move toward a meaningful, values-aligned life - even when anxiety is present. With gentle encouragement, she helps clients build the courage and flexibility to take meaningful steps forward rather than allowing anxiety to dictate the direction of their lives. She incorporates elements of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when appropriate.

 

Carlyn's approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in grace. She believes counseling can offer a space to step away from the pressure to constantly perform, achieve, and hold everything together - a space where clients can slow down, be fully human, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences, and move toward a more meaningful life.

 

Outside of counseling, Carlyn enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, entertaining friends, and playing tennis and mahjong.
